Cherie Lily web article on intenSati
Saturday, March 29, 2008 - 7:14 PM
Are you looking for something new to inspire you to a new level of fitness that uplifts your heart and mind as well as your body?  I teach the perfect workout for you.  It is called intenSati.

IntenSati is a compound word with the first half “inten” standing for intention and the second half “sati” representing the Indian word for awareness.  IntenSati is about fusing the power of intention and awareness in a group fitness environment.  IntenSati is a high-energy cardio-sculpting workout that is dynamic, yet easy to follow for all levels and ages.  This unique program combines martial arts, exercise, yoga, dance, and affirmations.  IntenSati is a revolutionary fitness program because it is the first work out that exercises both your body and your mind!

intenSati trains you from the inside out, so that you have the will power, courage, grace, passion, discipline and awareness to live a life you love in a body you love.  During class we bring attention and awareness to how we treat ourselves, how we silently speak to ourselves in our minds, and how we feel.  IntenSati has transformed lives as well as bodies, by combining positive affirmations to train the mind with the physical movements to train the body.

A positive affirmation is the assertion that something exists or is true.  A belief is a practiced thought.  When we practice positive thoughts or affirmations, we begin to have new positive beliefs.  We all live by many beliefs.  Someone may have the belief, “I am not coordinated enough to do a group fitness class” or “I am bad with money”.  Those are two examples of negative beliefs.  We can change any beliefs with practice from negative to positive.  We can change those two above examples to positive affirmations by saying, “I improve my coordination with practice everyday.  I do my best in group fitness classes and my best is good enough.” and “Today, I manage my money and finances well”.  If we practice positive thoughts or affirmations, we set in motion those new beliefs and they impact our mind, attitude and body.  This is why affirmations work perfectly in the group fitness setting.  They inspire us and keep us motivated to do our best and push ourselves to new limits.

In class, we use affirmations like “I am strong now”.  Even if you don’t feel strong on a Monday evening in my class, hearing and saying the words, “I am strong now” sets in motion that attitude of strength and improves not only your performance in class but it also uplifts your spirit.  Our thoughts are powerful; intenSati helps train our thought power as much as our physical power.

Fitness expert Patricia Moreno developed IntenSati and she has trained teachers all over the world.  I am a certified intenSati teacher and teach at many of the best gyms in New York City.  IntenSati attracted me as a group fitness professional because of its focus on the mind/body connection.  I encourage you to try an intenSati class this year and start off 2008 feeling great with a new focus in the gym, to train your whole self - heart, body, and mind.

With love and gratitude,
Cherie Lily
